Flaring Hysteria is a Prototype Augment. When obtained, players will be given an additional copy of standard Augments they acquire, but most damage inflicted upon the player will be tripled. Core Augments, Prototypes, Triplicate Spirits, and most once per run Augments will not be affected. Acquiring multiple copies of this prototype will continue to increase the amount of extra augments given with no additional penalty. However, if the player picks up an item and is supposed to be given more than 4 additional copies of that item, there is a chance they will only be given 4 additional copies, rather than the amount they should've received. This only applies to extra copies given by Hysteria prototypes; extra copies given by Triplicate Spirits will not be affected by this interaction.

With Prototype Resonator, players will be given 2 additional copies of standard augments they acquire.

Collecting System Restore removes the triple-damage penalty, causing the player to receive the normal amount of damage from attacks.

Interactions and Synergies

• The effect stacks additively with Crushing Hysteria, tripling augments received at the cost of having both downsides. If Prototype Resonator is active for both, augments received will be quintupled.
• The additive damage increase from Violence Enhancer occurs before the multiplier from Flaring Hysteria.
• The double damage intake penalty for being hit without immunity with Brittle Guard stacks multiplicatively with the triple damage intake penalty of Flaring Hysteria.
• The amount of health lost from Burn for Glory, Gears of Industry, and red vending machines is not affected by Flaring Hysteria.
• When appearing as an offer from shops and the Smuggler due to the effects of Madness Fountain, this prototype costs 2 nuts and 1 Scrapbit respectively.
• Flaring Hysteria will cause the player to receive extra copies of Fatal Fury, despite it being a once per run augment.

Trivia

• Flaring Hysteria is based on the 20XX prototype Hysteria, and has the exact same effect.
• Flaring Hysteria appears to be a combination of the removed dual-type Prototypes Hysteria and Fragile. Notably, the effect from Fragile has been increased.
• When cured with System Restore, the message that appears is: controllable might!
