Unstable Defense is an augment. When obtained, the player will gain 1 stack of instability when dealing damage with a Primary Weapon or melee attack, capping at 40 stacks. When the player loses health, all stacks of Instability are consumed to create 3 small damage pulses in quick succession. Each pulse has 1 base damage, plus 0.1 base damage per stack of Instability consumed, up to 4.9 damage per tick with 39 stacks consumed. If 40 stacks of Instability are consumed at once, the damaging pulses will instead deal 50 damage each and have a much larger radius. Additionally, each point of bonus power strength the player has will increase the damage dealt by an additive 10%, while each point of negative power strength the player had will reduce the damage by a subtractive 5%, capping at -90% with -18 power strength. Each additional copy of this augment obtained will increase the amount of Instability stacks gained from Primary Weapon and melee damage by 1, but the cap will remain at 40 stacks.
Interactions
Crushing Hysteria,
Flaring Hysteria, and
Triplicate Spirits will not grant additional copies of this augment.

Burn for Glory,
Gears of Industry, or red vending machines will not trigger the damage pulse.
