Tick, Tock is a Prototype Augment. When obtained, the player will become completely immune to knockback and almost all damage, simply passing through enemies and projectiles without even registering hits. However, every 10 seconds the player will take 10 damage. While inside Very Safe Laboratories, Shops and the area just before a boss fight, the timer is paused, meaning the player will not take any damage no matter how long they stay in these areas. The timer is also paused after defeating a boss, and will be reset back to 10 seconds upon starting the next level. If multiple copies of Tick, Tock are acquired, there is no additional effect.
With Prototype Resonator, the player takes damage every 15 seconds.
Collecting System Restore will remove the player's immunity to damage and stop them from taking damage every 10 seconds, essentially acting as if they no longer have the prototype.
Interactions and Synergies
Brittle Guard,
Flaring Hysteria, and
Violence Enhancer all affect the damage inflicted by
Tick, Tock the same way they affect damage inflicted by enemies.
- Damage inflicted by
Tick, Tock can be negated by items such as
Brittle Guard and
Zookeeper's Phalanx.
- Damage inflicted by
Burn for Glory,
Gears of Industry, and red vending machines will still be applied as usual.
Tick, Tock will negate the damage inflicted by
Wincing Clover, giving the player a lot of control over what items they acquire.
- When appearing as an offer from shops and the Smuggler due to the effects of
Madness Fountain, this prototype costs 2 nuts and 1
Scrapbit respectively.
