30XX:Powers
Powers are abilities the player can use after defeating the boss of a stage (except Unleash Blade, which Ace starts with). While Powers are used by Nina, Techniques are used by Ace. Nina also has the ability to fuse her Powers in the Pause Screen, creating many different Power combinations; as of right now, this gives Nina access to 36 total Powers: the 8 base Powers, as well as 28 fusions. Ace can access all of his currently obtained Techniques at once by pressing a direction (up, down, or no direction at all) and any of the three Power buttons. Unless specified otherwise, Power and Technique damage scales off of power strength. Unless specified otherwise, each additional point of the corresponding strength stat will increase the damage dealt by an additive 10%, while each negative point of the corresponding strength stat will decrease the damage by a subtractive 5%. Attack and power strength cannot go below -18.
While Ace has nine slots for his Techniques, Nina can only choose three powers (or fusions) to equip, with seven reserve slots (meaning a total of 13 slots, both equipped and reserve). Without Mega Mode, it is not possible for Nina to fill all her slots as there are only eight levels currently.
Additionally, each Power has two Power Augs that will spawn in later stages (starting in Level 3) as alternate boss rewards, which give new properties to previously picked up Powers. If the player doesn't have the Power that a Power Aug belongs to, it will be replaced with a Remnant, which grants the player a character-agnostic ability themed after the boss or stage it comes from.
Power Efficiency
Power Efficiency is a mechanic that was introduced in Early Access 0.36, functioning as a semi-hidden statistic that modifies how much a particular power may cost. The energy cost of a power is equal to that power's base cost multiplied by (100 / %Power Efficiency). So if the player has +100% Power Efficiency for an overall 200% power efficiency, the cost of their powers would be multiplied by (100/200), or 0.5. Power Efficiency has no additional effect below 10% (10x power cost), though it can still go below this point. The modified cost is reflected on the pause menu which shows how much energy a power may cost, and this takes temporary Power Efficiency buffs or debuffs into account. Stacking Power Efficiency modifiers has an additive/subtractive effect, even from different augments. The following items modify Power Efficiency at the moment:
- Owlhawk's Focus grants +33% Power Efficiency, or +50% if the player also has Resonant Helmet.
- The Owlhawk Set Bonus grants +67% Power Efficiency.
- Crisis Clarity grants +200% Power Efficiency if the player is at 25% health or less, or if they have 10 or less maximum health.
- Glorious Convocation grants +5% Power Efficiency for each independent repro the player has.
- Heavy Juice grants -50% Power Efficiency but increases power damage by an additive 50%.
