Absolution is the dark Guardian who serves as the boss of Penumbra. Upon defeat, she will drop Crushing Void for Nina, or Void Double for Ace.

Attacks

Absolution has two distinct phases during her boss battle. During her first phase, she has the following attacks:

• Fires a fan of five projectiles from her staff, then four more, then another five, all aimed at the player. Absolution will always start the battle with this attack.
• Aims a laser from her staff at the player, then follows up with two more lasers in a V formation.
• Summons a void, then throws it at the location where the player is standing. Once the void stops, it will linger for a long while before exploding.
• Throws her scythe directly at the player, then leaps to the scythe's location, throwing a fan of five projectiles at the player once she retrieves it.

Once she is damaged significantly (about 50% of her HP), she will leave the arena for a brief moment, and the stained glass in the background becomes active, thus triggering her second phase. The stained glass will always attack in a set cycle, starting with the red vertical line, then the blue slash, then the green circle. All three pieces of stained glass must be destroyed before the player may proceed with the rest of the fight.

• The red line will launch a wall of four fireballs to both sides of itself.
• The blue slash will create about eight sparks to both sides of itself, which travel along the walls of arena, and leaving the lower left and upper right corners as safe spots.
• The green circle will generate a void that aims at the player's location, similarly to Absolution's void from the first phase.

Once all three pieces of stained glass are defeated, Absolution will return to the arena at the center, and resume her attack pattern from the first phase with no known changes.

Tips

Ace's Ryuusei (dropped from Capital Punishment) will deal 999 damage to the stained glass from Absolution's second phase.

Nina's Rending Whirl (dropped from Hoot Omega), Ace's Osafune (dropped from Legacy) and Facesmasher are capable of destroying the voids.

If the red stained glass is destroyed last, Absolution will get a major speed buff for the rest of the fight. Try to avoid that as it makes the rest of the fight significantly more difficult.
