Legacy is the cheerful, friendly Guardian who serves as the boss for Deepverse. Upon defeat, they drop Negation Pulse for Nina, or Osafune for Ace.
Attacks
During the first phase, Legacy will do the following actions:
- Summon a barrier of triangle shapes in front of him, and lunge in a given direction. Legacy will do this two times in quick succession.
- Summon a shield of circle shapes, and slowly float towards the player. After a short while, the circle shapes will expand outwards from Legacy.
- Fire rotating cross shapes directly at the player. These are fired two at a time with the two connected with a beam. The beam weakens and blocks projectiles that hit it, just like the shapes do.
Upon hitting around 50% HP, Legacy will go into their second phase, forming a barrier around themself and floating upwards into the middle of the room. While this happens, Legacy will summon rotating cross shapes which move from one side of the room to the other. Occasionally, one of the cross shapes will have a glowing triangle shape behind it - damaging three triangle shapes will deal extra damage to Legacy, and destroying three of the shapes will end the second phase immediately.
During their third phase, Legacy will use their phase 1 moveset, with the following addition:
- Summon two moving non-rotating cross shapes on opposite ends of the room. Once they stop moving, a laser beam will appear between the two for a second, damaging any player within it.
Tips
While Legacy's shapes cannot be destroyed, dealing damage to the shapes will deal reduced damage to Legacy. This can be especially useful when using piercing weapons, which can hit multiple shapes at once.
(PLEASE TEST: Old mechanic, does this still work?) It is possible to freeze the Shapes with Nina's Crystal Wave (dropped from Echobeast). While their Shapes are frozen, Legacy is unable to take any actions until they thaw out. If frozen with the Crystal Wave+Persist fusion which extends the freeze duration to 30 seconds, this can essentially break Legacy's AI and trivialize the entire fight.
Panic Mode
After sending the Deepverse into its Panic Mode by wearing the full Vagrant's set, Legacy's AI will change, along with the level itself. Instead of performing his normal attacks, Legacy is affected by the corruption of the Deepverse and no longer attacks. Instead, he is stuck T-Posing with a static screen for his face display. He will get one-shot by any attack. Also noteworthy is how the cut-in for Legacy appears as soon as you pass the second boss gate, and does not mention his title of Gracious Host. Beating him this way rewards you with a part of the time machine.
