Mortar is a Power for all characters, acquired after defeating Death Lotus. It fires an arcing red bomb which explodes when it hits a solid object or an enemy that it doesn't immediately kill. When it explodes, it deals damage in an area around it for exactly 40 damage, unaffected by damage modifiers.

When fired near a hive in Frostor, the bomb will quickly home in on the hive, destroying it in a single hit.

When used on Vile Visage while he is shielding, the horn will break and he will become unable to use the shield for the rest of the fight.

With the Owlhawk Set Bonus, it now fires a giant blue bomb which deals 6.0x Power Strength. Upon exploding, the blue bomb fires 5 regular red bombs upwards in a spread, which will arc down and explode for even more damage.

Synergies

• Mortar might be a good idea to take when on runs with negative Power Strength, as the damage from the splash explosion is unaffected by Power Strength modifiers. This is especially useful when playing as Hawk, due to her starting penalty to Power Strength.

Trivia

• The 30XX Power Zen Mortar appears to be based on Mortar, as the gravity arc is similar and it shares the ability to pierce shields.
